The Gift of Pandora | Project 365

With the new year just around the corner, I have been giving thought to my new year’s resolution. Not going to do the weight loss. I’ve tried this in the past. I enjoy my food way too much. Two different ideas came to mind: reading the Bible; printing the images I take.

Knowing my personality, these will need to be very simple. I have the book, “God’s Little Devotional BIBLE”. There is a reading for each day of the week- all 7 of them! The entire Bible is arranged in 365 daily readings with devotions. Looking through the book each reading is 3 to 4 pages. At bedtime I will read the daily reading. Seems simple….

Next is doing better with printing the images I take throughout 2014. I have gotten pretty lax when it comes to taking images of my family. Photography used to be second nature for me. My camera went everywhere I went. After starting my photography business in 2004, I eventually began to leave the camera at the office when I wasn’t on assignment. What was once a big part of me; I was now separating it from my very essence.

For my 2014 photography assignment my goal will be to create one journal entry each week. This has to be simple as I stated previously. The software I will be using is Lumapix:Fotofuson. I use the extreme version. It allows multiple pages to be added to a project. Should you like to create a similar project of your own, this concept could be done using MicroSoft Word or MicroSoft Works.

Here is my first photo journal entry for 2014-even though it’s December 30, 2013.

I like using my own handwriting font for the journal portion. There is a free online service if you would like to create your own handwriting font. Just click this link.

Each page will be printed on premium white paper and added to a three ring notebook. Each page will be inserted into an archival sheet protector. The digital version will be saved to a backup file for save keeping.

A Sweet Kiss | Macro Photography

Finally my ‎g’mas Equipment is complete. I have two different camera gear: the first is my ‎professional setup and the second is for my personal everyday use. When I purchased my personal use camera it came with a standard 18-35mm lens. I since added the 55-210mm lens, a 16mm lens, 50mm lens and the most recent the 30mm macro lens.

You may wonder why I think I need the the different lens.

This first image was taken with the 18-35mm set at 18 with an f-stop of 5.6.

The camera lens was approx. 5 inches from the candy arrangement. I tried to make the candy as large as I could- keeping it in focus. The next image was taken with the same lens but zoomed in to the 35mm @ f5.6. It was necessary to move the lens 7 inches from the Kiss.

Next I used the 50mm lens. For this image I had to take the lens out 12 inches from the Kiss.

The next two images were taken with the 30mm macro lens. The bottom image, the lens was within an inch of the Kiss label. I then backed it up just enough to capture the whole Kiss candy.

The images shown above are straight out of the camera (SOC). Camera setting ISO 1600 f5.6 Apeture Priority no flash.

Depending on the image you are wanting to photograph will determine the lens to use. My favorite lens is the 55-210mm lens for everyday outdoor photography. The lens I use the most is my 16mm and the 18-35mm, typically indoors.

Thanksgiving Dinner | A Day with Family

Thanksgiving Dinner 2013 was a blessed day for me. I spent the day with family- my husband, parents and children. This doesn’t happen to often these days. My father and daughter requested a different bird for the holiday. When my mom mentioned this to me, I was rather pleased with the suggestion. Our main dish was still a bird- can you guess what it was- see below:

If it were up to me, our tableware would have been the real easy kind to clean up. I call it my fine china. You would call it paper plates. I am so for real. Doing dishes is on my list of avoiding as much as possible! Now my mother, she just loves to decorate with her fine china. Yes, you will see the table in the image. Jane Ray dishes. These do not go into the dishwasher.

How I enjoyed my mom’s home fried chicken, mashed potatoes, salads and banana bread on the beautiful table setting. A day I will always remember!
