Father’s Day Weekend with 3 generations of dad’s!

3 Generations of Fathers

Let me first say, Father’s Day weekend was fun! Saturday I was able to spend the morning with my daughter, son-in-law and Briella. We went to the park and took lovely images of Brie in her pretty blue dress (previous post). Sunday began at 8:00 am at the local TSC store.

My daughter and husband have for many years gone to bird shows- I am not up on the technical terms so bare with me. Every third Sunday TSC hosts a swap meet for small livestock- chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits. It was amazing because chickens are not just chickens- there are many different breeds and these people know them all!

Briella was not the happiest camper. Her gums were tender with the last tooth cutting through. But when Erika brought the little rabbit over for Briella to see, she soon brightened up and was thrilled with “Bubble”. Oh how she got excited and began saying bubble repeatedly. According to Erika, Briella was referring to the cartoon, Bubble Guppies. And that was how the rabbit got her name!

After the swap meet we went back to Erika and Shaune’s home where my folks came over for dinner. Shaune smoked brisket and it was delicious! Homemade ice cream and chocolate cake was for dessert. Yum.

June 2013 Calendar

The calendar is one tool I have come to appreciate in my life. Whether it’s for doctor’s appointments, work scheduling or simply a reminder for even the littlest task- taking medicine; the calendar is for sure one thing I can not live without. It’s great for organization.

I would like to challenge you to start using this tool in your daily routine. Begin with your work schedule. Once you are writing down important dates and events, check with your calendar before committing to projects for others. This one step has been a real life saver for me- less stress.

So many options are available. Computers, smart phones and tablets each have calendars that sync with one another. The trusty paper version never fails when power becomes an issue. Be sure to print for backup!

What can you calendar?

-Meetings, trade shows, appointments, vacation, etc.
-National holidays
-Neighborhood events that impact traffic (in good and bad ways)
-Public communications or editorial (plan blog posts, newsletters and social media)
-Windows and merchandising
-Promotions
-Special events or birthdays
-Simple availability: Busy or not busy

Pretty in a Blue Dress | Lake Shawnee, Topeka KS

Pretty in a Blue Dress.

One day last month Erika, Shaune and I went to Sam’s Club. We were shopping for household items. As we were browsing the isles, I noticed clothing for children. Of course I just had to take a peek. It was then that I spotted this blue dress. Erika said they really had no where to wear a dress like this one at the time. Well- Grandma said, “We’ll take pictures in it and then she can wear it whenever.” Little girls look so adorable in cute dresses!

Briella with her red hair looks really good in blue, green and purple. I knew her pictures would turn out wonderful. It was a matter of getting her to sit still long enough to snap the lens!

Lake Shawnee is beautiful. I immediately thought of this location for Brie’s photo session. Notice the chair. This was the chair I purchased for my children. Erika sat in this chair at the same age! Not only does this show the passing of time, but the chair kept Briella still for a few poses.
