Lunch Breaks: What do you do?

Work Day Lunch Breaks: What do you do?

Lunch Breaks: What do you do?

I need to state that I bought a new lens (new to me) for my g’ma camera over the weekend from ebay.com. If you have not had the chance to check it out and LOVE garage sales, well all I can say- ebay.com is one big online garage sale. It’a just about as fun as a second hand store!

On Monday during lunch I pulled out the camera with the new lens. Set the white balance and snapped the plant setting on the ledge above my work area. On my way out to the car it was raining; hence the leaf image. My lunch break is 30 minutes. Drove to Mikkie D’s for the dollar menu- hamburger catchup, pickles only with a large tea.

Today I stayed at the office. Took a Smart One dinner- forgot to grab that image…..
I read the instruction manual (with Edward) for the Sony Nex 5N. One of the best tips I can give for taking photographs, read the instruction manual. This may sound too easy, but it’s true. The best photographer can pick up a new camera and miss the best shot because he/she was too slow in snapping the lens. Figuring out what button to set f-stop, ISO and focusing can be distracting. Practice with the camera. When you can’t figure out how to make the appropriate changes, refer to the manual. If you have to download your manual from the internet, save the file to your computer and print a copy. Use highligters, make notes- write in the manual for future quick reference.

As you can see, my lunches are not that eventful. What do you do?

My Clothesline

I LOVE my cLothesline!

Housework is not fun. May I repeat- housework is NOT fun, period.

BUT- I do love & enjoy hanging my clothes out on the clothesline to dry; especially the bed sheets. After making the bed and crawling under the covers at night- I take a deep breath and ahhhhh; I LOVE the fresh air smell. There is an art to hanging the clothes on the line.

Some people are of the opinion clotheslines are unsightly. It’s an art to hang the clothes so personal items are not flashing to passerby’s. See the image below:

My husband and I live out of town on acreage where neighbors can not look out their window and see our house/yard. Therefore, I am not as careful to “hide” my personal undergarment. Now I could have slid my whites over a bit to completely hide it from view. The left image is turned so if a car would pass by, this is what would be seen. Turning the unit 180 degrees is the right view. This side is always turned away from the road. We have roughly 20 acres behind the line. No one should have access to that view. It is possible to be discreet in hanging your clothes. During July and August, I use the clothesline for everything. During the Fall and Spring I use both the dryer and the clothesline. Bath towels and jeans go in the dryer for the fluff. Everything else goes out on the clothesline. For Winter (yes, Winter!) on the days it’s above 32, I will hang my sheets. Oh yes, this is really nice. With the house closed up the fresh air smell from the sheets is heaven!

A Fan of Different Colors

My office was once my son’s bedroom. This room is not a large one; just 9′ by 12′ not including the closet. It’s rather quaint. Many times and hours I have spent here. It was just the other night I was lying in the middle of the floor waiting for an image gallery to upload to the server that I actually saw this view of the ceiling fan. And I wondered how many times my son as a child did the very same thing.

By the red paddle you will see the football hanging down from the fan. When Adam (my son) was using this room he was young and short. For him to be able to turn the paddles on and off, the chain length needed to be extended. He just thought this was cool having the football at the end of the chain! Memories now but each time I think of them it seem’s just like yesterday. How time passes. Yes, I have heard others say the very same. But- boy, how time fly’s is an under statement.

Be sure to grab your camera and take those photos of the everyday stuff. As time fly’s, it will be those small things that will be very precious memories in the years to come.
