Grandma’s Exercise Plan

Hi, yes- you heard right. I am in the process of creating a simple grandma’s exercise plan. After accepting the customer service position at work, I am now sitting for 8 to 10 hours during the day. Needless to admit, but….. I have gained a few pounds. Sigh. In the past, I have had jobs that required moving and standing on my feet for most of the day. Throughout the years, dieting has never really worked for me. It was during my younger years that I tried an exercise routine that produced the best results. I was able to continue eating the same yet my waist was thinning and I felt great. My plan must be simple.

About grandma’s exercise plan.

Grandma’s exercise plan will consist of walking 30 minutes a day four days of the week at the Parks and Recreation Center not too far from where I work. Then one weekend day I will choose some place near my home to walk. We live on approx. 20 acres, so I could walk outside down to the pond or even drive up to the local school and walk the track. The third day will be my treat- to choose a different location. Did I mention the parks and rec exercise room is free? Well it is! Take a look at the center below.

The rec center has a gym for basketball, pool tables, the weight room and a room you can reserve for meetings or parties. Okay now for the tour inside.

Today I walked my first 30 minutes. What a great feeling it was after I finished. My thoughts were to make a post once a month letting you know of my progress. Be sure to check back to see the results!

Grandma’s Exercise Plan Objective

Be active! As I mentioned earlier, this has to be easy and simple to be successful. My goal is to be able to walk without huffing and puffing. And if by chance I lose weight, all the better!

Do you have an exercise plan that you follow? What exercises do you do to get and stay in shape?

Calendars – August 2015

Hi, did you know a printed calendar is a fun way to scrapbook your month? Keep notes – simple, on each block reminding you what you did that day. One word would do. At the end of the month take the calendar and slip it into a sheet protector. Place this page into your journal. It can be an introduction to the next page going into more detail of your daily events. This can make your daily journal entries a bit easier- at least it does for me!

August for many is back to school month. Be sure to jot this down on your calendar. Many photo opts! As you may have read, I’m a Wal-Mart kind of gal. Each back to school season Wal-Mart will have school supply lists available for you.

Calendars – July 2015

Hi, this may seem strange to you- but I just love things like a calendar! One of my all time favorite stores to shop is office depot. Yep, that’s right! I use the Google calendar on my phone for personal appointments and such. This is a really good application because whether I’m on my phone, tablet or home computer- I see the same calendar. The best feature of the application is the reminders. I use two of them- the SMS feature and email. Soon the SMS feature will be phasing out- bummer. But all the same the application is really good, especially since it’s free!

Another calendar I have been using is Calendar Creator Deluxe 12. How many of you use the Franklin Covey planners? The Calendar Creator program can create your calendar as refill pages for your Franklin. Now that’s nifty! Working with websites, I have often wanted to add a calendar of events.

Searching for the right one was becoming not easy at all. Whether it be some aspect of the program- not user friendly, the cost or the sheer appearance of the calendar, I was truly having a difficult time deciding on which program to buy. That’s when I went back into the Calendar Creator program and really took a good look at all of the features. The event tab in the main menu link above links to the months July thru December 31, 2015. The program exports as html. I did create an index.html page to contain the exported files. Centering the exported calendar html files- they were not centered. By creating the index.html page, I was able to center the calendar. If anyone is interested, this can be a different topic with more details explaining what I did and why.

While searching for a calendar program, I wanted something very simple that I could decorate as I wish. This program allows custom designs and comes with many different images. If you are wanting a user-friendly program, I recommend Calendar Creator 12. Please keep in mind there will be a learning curve to designing your first calendar. However this is the same for any new software program. The help section is really handy.

Each month I will post the current pdf calendar file. Simply click the calendar picture and the pdf file should download to your computer to print or save as.
